Calculate your exact age in years from your date of birth. Free online age calculator.
Uses today's date in the browser.
Calculate your exact age from your date of birth, in years, months and days, plus the total number of days lived.
Pick your date of birth from the date field. The tool compares it with today's date on your device.
Age = today's date − date of birth
Born on 1 January 2000, you turn 26 on 1 January 2026.
You see your age in whole years, then the exact breakdown in years, months and days, and the total days lived.
Entering a date in the wrong order. The date field uses your browser's own format, so pick from the calendar if you are unsure.
An exact age in years, months and days matters surprisingly often: school admission cut-offs that count "years and months", pension eligibility, sports licensing by age group, insurance quotes, or simply writing a biography correctly. Counting by hand invites off-by-one mistakes around month lengths and leap years, and this tool never makes them because it asks the real calendar directly.
Where it does not fit: any question about a future date, since the tool anchors on today's date from your device. For a future milestone, add years with the Add Days calculator (years × 365 gets you close, then fine-tune) or count days with the Date Difference Calculator. Legal age rules also vary: most jurisdictions measure completed years, and a 29 February birthday is usually treated as 1 March in non-leap years — but check local rules when a deadline is tight.
Problem: someone was born on 20 March 1995. What is their exact age on 21 October 2026?
The total-days line is the useful cross-check: 31.59 years × about 365.25 days ≈ 11,540, which is close to 11,538 and confirms the arithmetic.
Four birth dates and their exact ages on that date:
| Date of birth | Exact age |
|---|---|
| 1 January 2000 | 26 years, 9 months, 20 days |
| 15 June 1990 | 36 years, 4 months, 6 days |
| 20 March 1995 | 31 years, 7 months, 1 day |
| 5 November 1975 | 50 years, 11 months, 16 days |
Watch how the day component resets at each birthday, which is why counting months and days separately beats any "days ÷ 365" shortcut.
The calculation uses the real calendar, so leap days are included in the day count.
The current date on your device.
40 years old, since the birthday of 15 February passed a few weeks earlier.
Enter today and your next birthday as the two dates and the tool shows the exact gap in days.
The page works at day precision, so the answer is complete years, months and days rather than hours.
This page always measures against the current date of your device. For age on another date, reopen it on that date or use a date-difference tool.
