Roll up to 20 online dice with 2 to 999 sides, with an optional modifier. Each die is shown and runs in your browser.
Rolls use your browser's secure random generator.
Roll one to twenty dice of any size, from 4-sided to 999-sided, with an optional modifier added to the total. Everything happens in your browser.
Choose the number of dice, the sides per die and a modifier, then press the generate button.
Each die shows a whole number from 1 to its side count; total = sum of dice + modifier
2d6 with a +1 modifier might roll 4 and 5 for a final total of 10.
The headline is the final total. The rolls are listed die by die and the table shows each face that came up.
Reading patterns into separate rolls. Each one is independent and memoryless.
Board games, role-playing sessions and classroom draws all need a die at short notice, and the physical ones have a habit of disappearing under the sofa. This page rolls one to twenty dice of any size from four to nine hundred and ninety-nine sides, shows each face, and adds an optional modifier to the total.
Each roll uses your browser's cryptographic random generator, so every face has the same chance and nothing is sent anywhere. The result is not reproducible: pressing the button again produces a genuinely new roll.
Each die is drawn uniformly from 1 to its number of sides, independently of the others. The total is the sum of the faces plus the modifier, which is applied once, not once per die. A notation like 3d8 means three dice with eight sides each, so the range is 3 to 24 before any modifier.
The average of a single die with s sides is (s + 1) ÷ 2, which is why a d6 averages 3.5 and 2d6 average 7. The range is symmetric around that value, but a single roll is just as likely to land at either end.
The defaults roll 2d6 with no modifier.
Seven is the most likely total for 2d6, because more combinations produce it than any other number: six of the thirty-six pairs.
| Die | Range | Average |
|---|---|---|
| d4 | 1 to 4 | 2.5 |
| d6 | 1 to 6 | 3.5 |
| d8 | 1 to 8 | 4.5 |
| d10 | 1 to 10 | 5.5 |
| d12 | 1 to 12 | 6.5 |
| d20 | 1 to 20 | 10.5 |
Doubling the sides does not double the typical result in a single roll: it doubles the average, which is a different statement.
It uses your browser's cryptographic random generator, which gives each face an equal chance.
Three dice with eight sides each; add any modifier separately in its field.
No. Copy the result line each time if you want a record.
7, because each six-sided die averages 3.5 and 3.5 + 3.5 = 7. Seven is also the most likely single total.
3 to 24 before modifiers: the minimum is three ones and the maximum three eights.
5%, one face out of twenty. Across ten rolls the chance of at least one 20 is 40.13%.
No. It is added once to the total, so +2 on 3d6 shifts the range to 5 to 20.
Up to twenty at a time, each with 2 to 999 sides. Rolls are independent, so past results do not influence the next one.
