Split a restaurant or group bill evenly among any number of people, including a tip. See each person's share instantly.
Total bill including tip divided by the number of people.
Split a restaurant or group bill evenly among any number of people, with an optional tip included. Each person's share is shown instantly.
Enter the bill, a tip percentage and the number of people. The tool adds the tip to the bill first and then divides the total equally.
Each share = bill × (1 + tip ÷ 100) ÷ people
A 120 bill with a 10% tip split between 4 people is 33 each.
The headline is each person's share. Check the total with tip in the detail line to make sure it matches what the restaurant is asking for.
Splitting evenly when people ordered very different amounts. In that case add up each person's items first and divide only the shared costs.
Split a bill when a group shares one total: a restaurant table, a taxi, a holiday rental, or the grocery pot in a shared flat. The page answers one question — what does each person owe once the tip is included — the same way every time, so nobody has to defend their mental arithmetic at the end of the meal.
It divides evenly, which suits groups that ordered together or agreed to share. Where shares are genuinely uneven, add up each person's own items first and use this page only for the tip and its division. If the bill already carries a printed service charge, enter the total as printed and leave the tip field at whatever extra you want to add — otherwise you tip twice.
Each share = bill × (1 + tip ÷ 100) ÷ people. The tip is charged on the whole bill and then divided with everything else. Because multiplication and division commute, adding the tip first and dividing afterwards gives exactly the same figure as dividing the bill first and adding each person's slice of the tip. Only the final amount is rounded, to two decimals.
The tip field is a percentage: 10 means ten per cent, not ten units of currency. The people field is rounded down, so 4.9 is treated as four people.
Four people share a 120 bill and decide on a 10% tip.
The result panel repeats that reasoning: 33.00 each, with the total with tip (132.00), the tip itself (12.00) and the number of people used (4) underneath, so a mistyped bill or tip is easy to spot.
| Bill | Tip | Total | 2 people | 4 people | 5 people |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 90 | 0% | 90.00 | 45.00 | 22.50 | 18.00 |
| 120 | 10% | 132.00 | 66.00 | 33.00 | 26.40 |
| 200 | 15% | 230.00 | 115.00 | 57.50 | 46.00 |
| 200 | 0% | 200.00 | 100.00 | 50.00 | 40.00 |
Only the divisor changes across the last three columns. Cash rarely lands on the cent, so most groups round up and leave the change.
This tool divides evenly. For uneven splits, add up each person's own items and their share of the tip.
Amounts are shown to two decimals, so the last cent may differ slightly when paying in cash.
The tip is 30.00, the total 230.00, and 230 ÷ 4 = 57.50 each.
90 ÷ 3 = 30.00 each. With the tip field at zero the total equals the bill.
12.00, so the table settles 132.00 and four people pay 33.00 each.
It shows two decimals, so a bill that does not divide evenly leaves a cent to settle: 133.00 across four people is 33.25 each.
No. If the printed bill already includes service, enter that total and set the tip to whatever extra you decide to leave.
