See how many days are left until a date, or how many have passed since. Free countdown calculator.
Uses today's date from your device.
See how many days remain until a future date, or how many have passed since a past date. Handy for countdowns to holidays, events and deadlines.
Pick a target date. The tool compares it with today's date from your device.
Days = target date − today's date
If today is 1 December and the target is 25 December, the result is 24 days.
A future date shows how many days remain, and a past date shows how long ago it was. It also gives a weeks-and-days breakdown.
Expecting the result to change at midnight in another time zone. The calculation follows your device's local date.
Every deadline question — exam, wedding, renewal, product launch — collapses to one arithmetic move: target date minus today's date. This page performs that move with your device's own calendar, prints the raw day count, splits it into whole weeks and leftover days when the span is a week or more, and names the exact weekday the target falls on. A past date flips the reading automatically: the same tool that says "237 days to go" for a future date says "40 days ago" for one that has already passed, which makes it a single instrument for both planning and memory checkpoints.
The weeks-and-days split is more than decoration. People plan in weeks — training blocks, payment runs, sprint cycles — and the tool's "33 weeks and 6 days" is the phrase that survives meeting minutes and calendar notes better than "237".
Scenario: today is 21 October 2026 on the device. Three targets, three reads:
Notice what the tool is not doing: it is not adding holidays, business-day filters or time zones. It is a whole-day counter, and every downstream promise (weekdays only, holidays excluded) is a different tool's job — the Working Days Calculator from these pages, for instance.
| Days | Weeks + days | Planning read |
|---|---|---|
| 64 | 9 wk 1 d | A quarter-year sprint with a day to spare |
| 90 | 12 wk 6 d | A full 13th week almost complete |
| 100 | 14 wk 2 d | The classic "100-day" plan, midweek finish |
| 180 | 25 wk 5 d | Half a year, minus one weekend day |
| 237 | 33 wk 6 d | Oct 21 to Jun 15 in the example above |
| 365 | 52 wk 1 d | A full year is always more than 52 weeks |
The last row is the trap new planners fall into: a year is 365 days but only 52 whole weeks plus one, so "52 weeks until launch" quietly loses a day every year. Weeks-and-day splits are the honest form.
Product calendars use the countdown to freeze content: a travel-guide writer locks copy 30 days before print, which the tool's "30 days to go" makes self-explanatory on any day you check. Personal finance uses it for goal dates: a bond maturing in 64 days is a 9-week parking spot for cash. Immigration and visa windows count calendar days (not working days) for stays — 90 days is 12 weeks and 6, which is why a "three-month" trip planned at 13 full weeks falls one day short of the border-free tourist limit in strict jurisdictions. The tool's raw day count is what those rules quote.
The current date on your device.
Yes. A past date shows how many days ago it was.
237 days — 33 weeks and 6 days — read straight off your device's calendar when you open the page.
People plan in weeks: a year is 365 days but only 52 weeks and 1 day, so whole-week quotes lose a day per year unless the remainder is tracked.
The countdown flips to an 'X days ago' reading automatically, so the same page serves planning ahead and memory checks back.
It counts calendar days — midnights included. Deadlines that run in weekdays belong to the Working Days calculator.
